Egyptian Mau Standard colour varieties
Recognized Colour Varieties
PatternGeneral description of coat colour
the pattern is that of a spotted cat
here only the features of the pattern which are characteristic of this breed are described
for the general description of the spotted pattern refer to the General Part
the spots are randomly scattered over the torso with variance in size and shape
spots can be small or large, of the same or different shape, round or oval, or irregular in shape, however the spots must be distinct and clearly separated by the ground colour
spotting pattern on each side of the torso need not match
on the chest one or more broken necklaces
shoulder markings are a transition between stripes and spots
ideally along the spine there are elongated spots; at the rear the spots merge together to form a dorsal stripe continuing along the top of the heavily ringed tail to end in a solid tip
the upper front legs are heavily barred but do not necessarily match
haunches and upper hind legs to be a transition between stripes and spots, breaking into bar on the lower legs
